When we think of organised crime, we tend to picture what we’ve seen on screen: the yakuza boss, the shadowy cartel, the gentleman spy. But how much of that reflects reality, and how much is myth?
This conference brings together an international group of researchers to answer exactly that question. Drawing on criminology, sociology, law, and cultural studies, the speakers will show how criminal networks are studied, understood, and often misrepresented, and why the gap between fiction and evidence matters.
